Intro

As an introduction I am a software engineer but now more specifically a solutions architect. I decided to start a blog after putting it off for so long. I think that I along with many others in the industry have a perspective especially with the changes introduced by AI. Ill get to that in a different post.

To give some background I am a self taught engineer. I have read many books, articles, and code over the years including watched an unhealthy amount of YouTube. Professionally, I have worked IT for a little over a decade. But have been tinkering with tech and writing code since I was about 5 or 6 which my first language was Basic 🔗 that my moms boyfriend at the time was coding in.

I was not very good obviously, and am not at that level of natural intelligence to be anywhere close to genius level. I am more of a typical normal person (well normal by some standards 10 years or more ago). Idiocracy 🔗 is seriously starting to become a documentary but I digress. As I grew older I learned more and possibly did some things at my schools computers/network that caused some outages (kids do stupid things).

I grew up with the movie Hackers 🔗, Swordfish 🔗, The Lawnmower Man 🔗, and Tron 🔗 just to name a few, and they fantasize the actual boring reality of typing code into a terminal. I love old music like Pink Floyd, Journey, Queen, Supertramp, Bone Thugs in Harmony, Tupac, Phil Collins, Boney M. to name just a insignificant fraction. But also still keep up with the newer trends some are good and some not so much but that’s a given with peoples tastes. I am absolutely obsessed with Deadpool which my office reflects. And I am both a Husband and Father to two beautiful girls who all mean the world to me.

I say all of this to give some insight into my background and general character. I believe in doing things the least wrong way and speak to power when no one else will. I try to help people as much as I can even to the detriment of my own personal health. Right now I am focusing on getting my Masters in Psychology which I plan to write a book in the future talking from the lens of a Software Engineer. I am still keeping up as best as I can with the changes in tech like new languages, frameworks, patterns and so on. I hope that this blog helps me to share my ideas and perspectives to others and make me a better writer. I am using Harper 🔗 to help me with this a bit and try as much as possible to avoid using AI as it seems to suck the soul out of the persons writing.
